On 25th April, Freedom Day (Dia da Liberdade) in Portugal — the anniversary of the Carnation Revolution — we returned to the Concelho de São Vicente in Madeira for a special Walking Football event at the Campo de Futebol na Boaventura. This was the same pitch where the first Taça de Veteranos final was played.
This year, with support from the Câmara Municipal de São Vicente, ATARAM and other local organisations, São Vicente hosted a veterans’ football day with several activities, including walking football.
Inter Madeira Walking Football (IMWF) were pleased to be invited to join the tournament alongside local teams CTT, J. Inácio, Canicense and Estreito.
It was a good day playing at the new facilities in Boaventura, followed by lunch kindly provided by the organisers and the council.
